What are you doing today?

Yesterday was my birthday but I had to work, so today I'm having a Sew Day.  I'm staying in my favourite jammies, throwing a bunch of movies in the DVD player and sewing my heart out!  I've also shopped online to get my supply of Sunkissed by Sweetwater before they are all sold out.

I'm working on this:

Happy Quilt-along in Pure by Sweetwater

Mug Rugs from from scraps (aprons I made)

Finishing Block One of my Vignette quilt before Issue Two arrives

And remembering how I celebrated a milestone birthday last year!

P.S. Krisgray has claimed the Moda tin giveaway - and is giving part of it away as well - she plans on making the mini-quilt for her gramma (shh, it's a surprise for Mother's Day!).  Congrats again, Kris!

A different winner!

lvitzthum (no blog) has not claimed her prize, so I'm giving another person a chance at the giveaway! Luckily, I kept a spreadsheet of all my followers up to 50, so I can easily find out who

#17 is - krisgray from http://farmgirltransplant.blogspot.com/.  I've sent her an email, same thing - if she doesn't claim it in a week, I'll draw again ( I sure hope she does, cuz I'd love to give this away).

This is my birthday week, so I treated myself to a small trip to my LSS, where I picked up some It's a Hoot charm packs, and some fat 1/8ths from the bargain bin.  Not sure what I'm going to make yet.

I'm almost finished going through my boxes of crafts and sewing supplies and I'm accumulating a pile of things I'll never get accomplished in this lifetime.  Watch this space for some RAKs, possibly as early as tonight!

The time has come to draw a name,

Assigned numbers Fifty to one,

Thanks for to all of you for signing up as followers to my blog.  Lvistzthum has won the Moda Limited Edition Charm Pack Tin!  She had contact information on her signup, so I've sent her an email, but if I don't hear from her within a week, I'll have to redraw to be fair to all of you.  Thanks again for following, Terri in BC

Woo-hoo - we hit 50 followers!

I'll be doing a draw later today for this little item!

Catching up

Since taking an office position, I've been neglecting my blog (but not my sewing room) - sorry about that, folks!

I've been busy working on this:

Triangles to complete Melissa from Happy Quilting's Quilt-a-long.  I've had to order the sashing fabric and just got word that I can pick it up at my US mail box, so I'll make a quick trip across the line once my grandson goes home.

Mug rugs from scraps

A few more wonky blocks

I also cut 2" squares from an old cotton shirt for my leaders and enders project (ala Bonnie Hunter).

And while this little bundle of joy slept in the sewing room, and his brother and 2 cousins played, I taught his mom and her sister (my twin nieces) how to make these:

Mei-tei Baby Carriers by Mae - They were surprising easy to make and we all loved the interchangeable panels!

And of course, I had a sneak peak at this little Work-In-Progress!  My baby granddaughter is due June 1st, and I've started some sewing for her!

PS:  Only one more follower is needed before I draw for my giveaway!  Tell your friends about me, please!

Liberated piecing

I've seen some interesting blogs about "not following the rules" so I thought I would try it.  I picked up a bag of scraps for $1 at a quilt shop in Sumas, WA which had some interesting little bits in it.  The centre of this block is one of them.

I then pulled pieces from my bin of strings and sewed a wonky log cabin.  It measures 6 1/2" square.  I think I still need to work on "drawing" outside the lines as it's still pretty structured in my opinion, but I like it.

Here are a few places where I was inspired:

I get to see my new granddaughter today!

At 11 am PST, we are having a little sneak peak at that sweet baby!  She's not due until June 1st, but I'm treating my daughter and her husband to a 3D ultrasound, complete with a DVD to take home and an internet broadcast for those who live back east and in England.  How far technology has come!  I'll be back to post pictures a little later today - now I'm off to the sewing room to decide what to make for that little girl today.

PS - Invite your friends to follow my blog!  We need 3 more followers so I can give away a little gift.

Congratulations and announcing another giveaway!

I'm sorry it's taken me a little bit of time to post the winner of the draw from Stash Manicure.  Congratulations to Laura from http://lauralovesquilting.blogspot.com/ who said "Thanks for your great post on Stash Manicure. It is very encouraging. I would love to win that book (and, of course, not begin a single project in it until I finish a UFO, ha, ha, ha)."  She sounds like a girl from my own heart!  Madame Samm was so generous to offer up a book by Marie Osmond called Heartfelt Giving when I posted at Stash Manicure.

And now that I am rapidly approaching a significant number of followers, I thought I'd have a little giveaway of my own.  I have been hanging on to this cute little collector's tin from Moda for a few years now, but I never managed to get any more of them (well, except for Spish Splash) so I going to do a draw when I hit 50 followers!

It is a charm pack of Fig Tree Quilts' A Day in the Country for Moda and was made in 2006.

It even includes the pattern for the little quilt shown on the front of the tin called "Honey Bee" - so cute!

Here's the back of the tin with all the details:

If you are already a follower, you are in the draw.  Get your quilty friends to join so I can do the draw sooner!  I'll ship it to anywhere in the world from my little corner of Canada.
